Aloha Mai!

Welcome all massives, Kanaka's and all races. Po'okela Street Band a.k.a "PSB" has been electrifying crowds for the past thirteen years in Seattle.  The band started out in the mid 90's in the Pacific Northwest, uniquely fusing Jamaican reggae and Hawaiian Island style rhythms to form a musical style known as "Jawaiian," a musical movement, developed in the early 90's in Hawaii.  As the band continued to evolve musically, they now are a high energy pop reggae group that continues to produce a contagious fusion of Top 40, R&B, pop, rock, rap and country with a heavy reggae back beat.  Their unique style defies the idea of categorizing them into a single genre of music, giving PSB widespread appeal and capturing an array of musical influences. Their versatility, tight vocal harmonies and energetic stage presence makes for a musical experience second to none.

In Seattle, a melting pot of divers musical genre, PSB has taken its place among the elite reggae and worldbeat bands in the Pacific Northwest gaining the the respect of club owners and promoters.  Enough so, that they have gained the trust and respect of club owners and promoters around town to use PSB as an opening act on shows for national reggae recording artists such as Black Uhuru, Big Mountain, Eek-a-Mouse, Burning Spear, Wailing Souls and Toots & the Maytals.

The Hawaiian translation of Po'okela is Champion or Superior, a fitting name as the band always strives to better themselves musically and excel as artists.  If you have ever visited Pike Place Market, an open fruit and fish market in downtown Seattle, you will find 'Street Performers' who entertain hundreds of shoppers and tourists daily. Their artistic expression is passionately displayed through their performances. PSB admires the intense enthusiasm of these street performers and wanted their name to reflect this same fervor . . . hence the name "Po'okela Street Band".

So whether you're looking to 'Lively up' your nightclub, party, luau, wedding or summer festival . . . PSB can do it all and will not disappoint.

"I have booked Po'okela for corporate events, the "Bite of Seattle and the 'Taste of Tacoma' for the last thirteen years. Their music is appealing and catchy and their tight vocal harmonies are a listening delight. They are absolutely the best at what they do." -Linda Zopfi, A Zopfi Productions

"These guys Kick-A_ _! I met and saw them play at our 107.7 Reggae Cruises a couple of times and they just rocked the boat!" -Andy Savage, Morning DJ 107.7 the end

In Peaceful Memory ...

The PSB family recently lost a very dear friend, fan and a rasta souljah in Jeff Roetter.  Jeff was, and will always be in our hearts.  He was a permanent fixture at Finaghty's pub when PSB was in town.  His love and passion for reggae music transcended into everything he did in his life.  His spirit lives on and we honor his shortened life by continuing to spread the message of love and unity through our style of reggae music ... Rest in good vibrations Ras Jeff!

Memorial show in his honor,
Sunday, June 27th at Finaghty's Pub
7-10 pm.
